Agata Nowakowska-Gumiela

Agata Nowakowska-Gumiela is an acclaimed pianist, chamber musician and pedagogue. She teaches a piano class at the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz and at the State Music School Complex in Bydgoszcz. Her students and pupils have won numerous awards at national and international competitions - recent highlights include Zhuoqing's First Prize Du in the International Piano Competition “Artur Rubinstein in memoriam” in Bydgoszcz in 2024. 

The pianist graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the Prof. Katarzyna Popowa - Zydroń's piano class, as well as the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna in the piano class of Prof. Noel Flores. She was the winner of many national and international competitions, including the National Competition of F. F. Liszt Competition in Wroclaw (3rd prize), International Piano Competition in San Sebastian, Spain (2nd prize), she has been awarded the TiFC scholarship several times in Warsaw, the Herbert von Karajan Center in Vienna and the Yehudi Menuhin Foundation Live Music Now. 

Agata Nowakowska-Gumiela has given concerts as a soloist in many cities in Poland, as well as in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Russia and Chile. In her discography she has an album of chamber music for piano and cello, as well as recordings of solo and chamber music with works by R. Schumann and J. Brahms. For several years, the main area of of her concert activity has been the Pianopticum Duo piano duo, which she co-founded with her husband Tomasz Gumiela. The pianists have participated in a variety of projects and festivals, including the prestigious open-air festival “River of Music.” 

“New Music” festival, ‘Music in Blumwego Villa’ (in Bydgoszcz), the Festival “Inoclassic” in Inowrocław, the Easter Festival in Toruń, the Festival of the “Lublin Philharmonic in Kozlowka” and others, as well as in Slovakia and France. 

Agata Nowakowska-Gumiela is also engaged in journalistic activities - she runs the television studio of the International Piano Competitions named after I. J. Paderewski in Bydgoszcz, and publishes articles in “Piano Notebook”.
