Bartłomiej Kominek

Bartłomiej Kominek - professor at the Academy of Music in Cracow. He graduated with honors from the Academy of Music in Cracow in Janusz Olejniczak's class. He has participated in masterclasses of the most eminent piano pedagogues, including Andrzej Jasinski, Oxana Jablonska, Lee Kum-Sing and Ryszard Bakst. He currently teaches at the Academy of Music in Krakow, where he received his doctorate in 2015, and has served as Head of the Department of Chamber Music since 2020. 

He has won numerous prizes and awards at piano competitions and festivals at home and abroad, including in Kil (Sweden), Glasgow and London, as well as at the Polish Piano Festival in Slupsk and the Talent Festival in Tarnow. He performs on the concert stages of Poland (Polish Piano Festival in Slupsk, Polish Radio Music Festival in Warsaw, Bravo Maestro Festival, in Paderewski's manor house in Kąsna Dolna, Talentow Festival in Tarnow, International Festival of Contemporary Music Warsaw Autumn , Warsaw Music Encounters, Music on the Peaks in Zakopane, Polish Music Festival in Cracow, International Days of Cracow Composers ), in almost all of Europe, the Middle East and Japan, receiving excellent reviews. He has also participated in Chopin festivals in Ghent (Belgium), Valldemossa (Majorca) and Nohant (France). 

He has made recordings for Polish Radio and Television. He played the role of Frederic Chopin in a film made by Japanese Television. In 2005, his recording of Etude in E major, Op. 10, No. 3 was included on the Chopin album of the most outstanding Polish pianists and winners of Chopin competitions. In the same year, together with Janusz Olejniczak , the University of Gdansk Choir and outstanding soloists, he recorded the rarely performed Little Solemn Mass by Giacomo Rossini. This performance was released on an album published by the University of Gdansk. In 2010, an album by the DUX company with music by Grazyna Bacewicz was released, including Piano Quintet No. 1 in an arrangement for piano and chamber orchestra, which was nominated for a Fryderyk award. In 2013, Polskie Nagrania released an album of music by Croatian composerpresident Ivo Josipović. In 2016, his solo album of music by Sergei Prokofiev was released, featuring the extremely rarely performed Suite from the Ballet “Romeo and Juliet”.

The artist has also been active in chamber music for many years and performs with many wellknown artists, orchestras and chamber ensembles, including Sinfonia Varsovia, Krakow Philharmonic Orchestra, Swietokrzyska Philharmonic Orchestra, Kaliska Philharmonic Orchestra, Sinfonia Baltica, Capella Cracoviensis , Polish Radio Orchestra, String Quartet “DAFO”, String Quartet “Camerata” , String Quartet “Prima Vista”, Polish Radio Choir in Krakow, Elżbieta Towarnicka, Olga Pasiecznik, Anna Radziejewska , Iwona Sobotka , Edyta Piasecka, Joanna Freszel, Janusz Olejniczak , Konstanty Andrzej Kulka, Tomasz Strahl, Marcin Nałęcz-Niesiołowski, Wojciech Michniewski, Daniel Smith, Jonatan Mann, Anna Maria Staśkiewicz, Klaudiusz Baran, Magdalena Bojanowicz and Janusz Wawrowski. Since 2014, he has performed with pianist Anna Boczar in the piano duo “Chopin Piano Duo.” The duo performs at many prestigious festivals throughout Europe and Asia. In 2020, an album of Roman Maciejewski's works for two pianos was released by DUX. Bartłomiej Kominek is invited to participate in the jury at national and international piano and chamber music competitions (among others: Roma Piano Competition, International Piano Duo Competition in Bialystok, “Let's Play Together” in Zamosc). 

He conducts master classes at many universities in Europe. He is the author of an arrangement of all orchestral works by Fryderyk Chopin in the version for piano with string quartet accompaniment, published by Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne. Since 2016, Bartlomiej Kominek has served as artistic director of the International Piano Duets Festival “Duettissimo” in Krakow. In 2019 he was awarded the medal of the Minister of National Education for special merits in teaching. Since 2020, he has served as Head of the Department of Chamber Music at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Krakow.
